Chemical peeling is a dermato-cosmetic procedure that consists in inducing an accelerated skin regeneration in a controlled way. This is achieved by applying exfoliating chemical agents that act at the level of different layers of the skin.
Chemical peeling is an aesthetic procedure used to improve the appearance of the skin both on the face area and, at the customer’s request, in the neck area. The regenerated skin is smoother, with an improved aesthetic appearance.
Chemical peeling purifies and oxygenates the skin, leaving it hydrated and free of impurities. It also closes the pores, improving the texture of the skin and increases the thickness of the epidermis. In particular cases, it can reduce the clinical manifestations of acne and relieve scarring.
This treatment is recommended for the relief of wrinkles and fine lines, in case of uneven pigmentation of the face (melasma, efelide) or in the case of post-acne scars or, even, post-smallpox.
How many kinds of chemical peelings are?
The skin consists of 3 layers:
→ epidermis (superficial layer)
→ dermis (vascularized layer, rich in collagen fibers)
→ the hypodermis (adipose tissue).
We choose the right acid as well as the exposure time of the skin with a specific substance depending on the cellular layer we target.
The role of chemical peeling is to stimulate collagen production and relieve wrinkles. It is ideal to treat wrinkles around the mouth, the so-called “wrinkles of smokers”.
Chemical peeling treatment is recommended to be done in the Premium version of 90 minutes for maximum efficiency due to its complexity. A 60-minute Standard version can also be made, depending on the needs of each skin, in the case of a personalized maintenance session, after consulting with our specialists in this field. The complexity of the treatment does NOT allow, in this case, an Express version.
The person to whom the treatment is done relaxes on the cosmetic bed, in a special atmosphere, benefiting from aromatherapy and melotherapy. All facial treatments at Derma Studio Pipera are performed in a pleasant environment, where you will benefit from relaxing music, discreet light and special ambient fragrances.
Procedure:
The main effect of chemical peeling is to clean the pores, to reduce sebaceous secretion, but also it helps facial rejuvenation by reducing fine lines, post-acne hyperpigmentation or melasma (brown spots). Following the treatment, the skin is immediately soothed by a moisturizing and healing mask.

FREQUENCY OF SESSIONS
Good results appear after each session, but for lasting results it is important to follow an extensive program.
It is recomended to do more then two peeling sessions with a break of 1-2 weeks between sessions, depending on your face skin conditions (recurrent acne, scars, very oily and heavy skin).
More than two peeling sessions are also required for anti-aging and facial rejuvenation, if the skin is mature and with deep wrinkles.
Each person’s skin will respond to the treatment in a unique way, so it is important to have realistic expectations. Face skin problems of some clients are getting better from the first chemical peeling session, but in other situations a longer, bimonthly frequency of the procedure is required, until the appearance of the visible signs of skin regeneration.
PRECAUTIONS
Photosensitizing drugs (for example, tetracycline antibiotics or Retinol creams) are not recommended before and after a chemical peeling face treatment. If you suffer from dermatological, chronic or any other disease, ask a professional medical advice in order to see if you can do this cosmetic treatment!
Sun or sun exposure is not good, neither before nor one or two days after the procedure!
It is usually required a recovery period of 3-4 days in case of severe scaling. If initially the skin is slightly reddish, in the following days you will feel the need to moisturize the skin with emollient creams because the chemical peeling might give the feeling of “tightening”.
There is a possibility to notice on your face skin some “flaps” or “shells”, white or brown scales that represent the layer of dead cells that are gradually exfoliating.

Chemical peelings have no major contraindications in general. It is very important to seek medical approval in case of: recent surgery procedures, before any surgery, severe heart disease, serious eye disease, epilepsy, tumors, cancer, fever, open sores, recent dental treatments, pregnancy.
